This compact Rwanda journey begins in Kigali before moving north through the land of a thousand hills to Virunga Lodge. Mountain gorillas remain the defining encounter, balanced with golden monkeys, conservation context and the warmth of an all-inclusive lodge stay.

- Day 01
Arrive in Kigali
Meet your expert safari guide at Kigali International Airport and ease into Rwanda with an afternoon city experience. Overnight in Kigali at The Retreat with breakfast.
- Day 02
Kigali to the Virungas
Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial before driving north through Rwanda's hills to Virunga Lodge. Before dinner, join a conservation fireside chat with Gorilla Doctors or the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
- Day 03
Mountain gorillas
Track mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, then visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Return to Virunga Lodge for time to recover, with complimentary spa treatments available.
- Day 04
Golden monkeys
Return to the bamboo forest to track Rwanda's rare golden monkeys. The afternoon is deliberately unhurried, with the lodge's community, conservation and wellness experiences available.
- Day 05
Return to Kigali
Drive back to Kigali for your onward flight. International departures should be planned for the evening to protect the journey from unnecessary haste.
